Shower Trays & Pans

Pre-Sloped Shower Trays & Pans for Tile Installations
Trugard shower trays and pans eliminate one of the most time-consuming steps in a tile shower build: creating a perfectly sloped mortar bed. Our lightweight, pre-sloped EPS foam trays come factory-graded to direct water toward the drain, so you can tile directly over them with thin-set mortar and skip the mud work entirely.
We carry shower trays in a range of standard sizes for both center-drain and linear-drain configurations, including curbless options for barrier-free and ADA-compliant designs. Each tray is coated with a waterproof fleece surface that bonds directly with our Trugard waterproofing membrane for a fully sealed shower floor assembly.
These trays are the direct equivalent of Schluter Kerdi-Shower-ST and similar premium foam shower pans—at over 60% savings. They are trusted by professional tile contractors and DIY homeowners across the country for their reliability and ease of installation.

Shower Tray & Pan FAQs
Standard shower trays have a raised curb (lip) around the perimeter that contains water inside the shower. Curbless trays are flush with the bathroom floor, creating a seamless transition that's wheelchair-accessible and gives a spacious, walk-in feel. Curbless designs require more precise slope planning since there's no physical barrier to contain water. Trugard offers both options in multiple sizes, and our curbless trays include an integrated slope that channels water toward the drain without any custom mud work.
Measure the inside dimensions of your shower opening from stud to stud, then select the closest Trugard tray size that fits within those measurements. Common residential sizes are 32"x32", 36"x36", 36"x48", and 36"x60". The tray must sit flat on the subfloor with the drain hole aligned to your existing plumbing. If you're between sizes, choose the smaller tray and frame the walls to fit, rather than trying to cut a tray down.
No, a pre-formed tray and a mortar bed are two alternative approaches to creating your shower floor slope. A mortar bed is custom-mixed concrete sloped by hand, then covered with waterproofing membrane. A Trugard pre-sloped tray eliminates the mortar step entirely: it arrives with the correct slope already built in, saving hours of labor and removing the risk of incorrect slope angles. For DIY installers, a pre-formed tray is significantly easier and more reliable than hand-packing a mortar bed.
Trugard standard square and rectangular trays with a center drain opening are designed for square (point) drains with a 2-inch connection. Trugard linear-drain trays have an elongated channel along one edge that accepts Trugard linear drains in matching lengths. Always match the tray model number with the recommended drain listed on the product page. Mixing tray and drain types from different systems can create fit issues and compromise the waterproof seal at the drain flange.
